If you've ever asked:

Why doesn’t my child listen to me?

What do they need from me?

This program will help you to:
  • Understand your child’s emotional world by learning to read their emotional needs

  • Support your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions

  • Enhance the development of your child's self-esteem

  • Honor your innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure

  • Join a supportive community with other parents who share similar goals

The evidence-based Circle of Security Parenting™ program

Based on

60 years of research

on the developmental outcomes of attachment security. Because attachment is so intuitive, Circle of Security has circled the globe. It’s now been translated into 14 different languages and is available in more than 30 countries, with more than 25,000 facilitators trained worldwide.

Imagine what it would be like if:

  • you were able to recognize the deeper meaning behind your triggers and why your child’s neediness or individuation feels so threatening at times.

  • you felt like you had a ‘map’ showing you exactly what support your child needs in different circumstances.

  • you felt like you truly understood your child and knew how to help them develop a secure attachment style.

  • you felt confident you’re doing a good job supporting your child’s needs, even when those needs are expressed as a tantrum in the grocery store or not listening at bedtime.

Is this for me?

here’s what

you can expect:

  • The course is run by Ruth, a licensed social worker in early childhood mental health. For this first round, the group will be limited to 4 participants. It’s designed for caregivers who want to do things differently than their parents did, but aren’t exactly sure how to do that without falling into authoritarian or permissive parenting.

  • Eight 90-minute sessions delivered live via Zoom, covering different topics related to attachment, regulating ourselves, and establishing a strong connection with our children. Handouts and supplemental resources to help you integrate your learning are included.

  • Every Wednesday from 7:30 - 8:00 PM EST, starting Wednesday, May 7, 2025. The program runs for 8 weeks.

Support and strengthen
your relationship with your child.

hi!

I’m Ruth.

I’m a licensed social worker in early childhood mental health. I currently work in the state of Connecticut helping parents and teachers better meet the social-emotional needs of children ages 0-5. I’m passionate about advocating for children and helping caregivers improve their relationships with them.

When I’m not hanging out in preschool classrooms, you can find me writing Substack essays, spending time with my loved ones, hiking in the woods, and traveling the world.

FAQs

  • The program is designed for all parents and caregivers, regardless of their family structure or support system. It’s particularly helpful for single parents because it provides tools for emotional connection and support, even when there is no other adult involved in the parenting process.

  • The program is designed for children aged 0 to 6. Examples of infants, toddlers and older kids are included in the video content so you can see how this program works for every age.

  • This program is set apart by its strong foundation in attachment theory, which emphasizes understanding the child’s emotional needs and building a secure attachment. The program focuses on emotionally responsive parenting rather than just behavior modification, helping parents not only manage behaviors but also foster a deeper emotional bond with their children.

  • While there is no accepted definition of what constitutes being "a trauma-informed intervention," the Circle of Security model was informed throughout its development by parents who struggled with profoundly traumatic histories. At the heart of the protocol is the process of inviting caregivers to reflect upon how their past experiences, both positive and negative, influence their strengths and struggles in meeting children's attachment needs around the Circle.

  • Yes, the COSP™ approach is designed to be flexible and adaptable, which includes being culturally responsive. The core principles of the model — building secure attachment through providing a secure base and a safe haven — are universal, as they address fundamental human needs for connection, trust, and emotional safety. However, Circle of Security acknowledges the importance of cultural differences in how parenting practices and behaviors may look in various contexts. COSP™ strives to be culturally responsive by respecting diverse parenting styles, fostering understanding of emotional needs, acknowledging cultural norms around attachment, emphasizing relationship over “methodology,” training culturally competent facilitators, and adapting the program to fit local cultural norms and practices in many different countries.
